Meet the CPAA Board of Directors
Introducing Geoff Tiffin, our 2024-2025 Chair!
We’re excited to introduce Geoff Tiffin, our Chair for 2024-2025! Geoff began his municipal career in 2008 after graduating from the University of Guelph with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Engineering and making the move to Alberta.
Throughout his career at the County of Newell, Geoff has played a key role in managing major capital projects, including transportation, water, sewer, and storm infrastructure, as well as a $54 million rural water distribution system. As the Manager of Planning, Development and Engineering Services, he’s been pivotal in enhancing service efficiency and spearheading a department-wide restructuring and process overhaul.
When he’s not at work, Geoff enjoys life on a small acreage outside Brooks with his three young children. His dedication to both his profession and his family truly embodies the spirit of our community.
Introducing Robert Nygaard, our 2024/2025 Vice-Chair (North)!
We are pleased to introduce Robert Nygaard, our Vice-Chair (North) for 2024/2025. Robert is a dedicated and active member of his community in Faust. For the past 15 years, he has served as Deputy Fire Chief at the Faust Fire District and has represented his hamlet on Council for two consecutive four-year terms.
During his tenure, Robert also chaired the Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) for six years. In 2021, he was elected Reeve and has embraced the challenges of working with a new Council. His experience as a Councillor and chair of MPC has been invaluable in his role as Reeve. Robert is passionate about working collaboratively with Council, Administration, ratepayers, and stakeholders to achieve their community's goals.
Meet Daniel MacGregor, our 2024/2025 Vice-Chair (South)!
Daniel is an experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate professional Planner who has been working in the planning / land development field for over 15 years. Most of this work has been as a consultant in the private sector, though he has also worked in the public sector and internationally.
Daniel is a goal and team-oriented people person who enjoys the collaborative and broad nature of planning. He currently works for Stantec in Calgary but is originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he graduated from Dalhousie University in 2008.
Meet Kristen Harder, from our 2024/2025 Board of Directors!
Kristen is a Planner and Project Manager with V3 Companies with over six years of experience in policy development and municipal approvals. Kristen landed in community planning by chance after two relatively aimless years of “major jumping” at Red Deer College. Having done some introspective thinking, she googled “jobs related to cities”, and pursued a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from the University of Calgary. Kristen began her professional career as a Development Officer for the City of Lacombe before moving to Toronto to complete a master’s degree in urban and Regional Planning from Toronto Metropolitan University. Before joining V3, Kristen was a Planner and Associate with Dillon Consulting Limited. With Dillon Kristen expanded leadership skills and enjoyed mentoring new staff while working on a wide variety of projects Canada-wide and internationally, in the Caribbean.
Kristen enjoys opportunities to work with communities using a solutions-oriented mindset, with a particular passion for finding efficiencies in the municipal development approvals process. In fair weather outside of work hours, Kristen is likely camping, travelling, playing softball, biking, dancing at music festivals, or drinking a cold beer on a hot patio with friends. During our long Canadian winters, Kristen is most often found with her nose in a book.
Stay tuned! We will be introducing other board members soon. Be sure to watch out for these updates and get to know the leaders of our community.
